YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
PACT: PREVENTION ASSOCIATION FOR CONNECTICUT TEENS
The Initiative
Comprised of youth representatives from schools and community groups throughout
the state, PACT focuses on empowering youth by providing education and skills
training in the following areas:
· Leadership
· Safe decisions
· Substance use prevention
· Violence prevention
Youth Representatives
Youth taking part in PACT are actively involved, both at the local and state level. Youth serve as representatives to The Governor's Prevention Partnership's Board of Directors, the CCSUD Leadership Council and the MADD Advisory Board. All youth representatives take on the responsibility of:
· Participating in training opportunities,
· Planning and delivering state-wide programs and services,
· Sharing information with local schools and communities,
· Organizing and conducting local projects,
· Being a spokesperson and media contact, and
· Committing to being substance-free, safe drivers & positive role models.
Trainings & Events:
PACT members connect monthly, through trainings and special events. Trainings
are held bi-monthly, and include an advisor-training component for adults in a
youth-supporting role. Special events held yearly include the CCSUD Conference,
Make Your Voice Heard Youth Summit, PACT Youth Leadership Conference and MADD
Youth Leadership Power Camp.

In support of PACT, The Governor's Prevention Partnership provides the following:
· Adult support/leadership
· Coordination of state-wide programs, conferences and special events
· Support of local projects and events
· Coordination of information and resource collection
