History & Goals
The Connecticut Mentoring Partnership (CMP) is the cornerstone of Connecticut's response to America's Promise. CMP
was created in 1997 by The Governor's Prevention Partnership when the Governor challenged
business leaders to join him in creating a new statewide mentoring initiative
to protect children from drug use, school failure, and other related problems.
The goals of CMP are to increase the number of mentoring relationships and mentoring
programs across the state and to assure the quality and safety of those programs.
Since its inception, CMP has created close to 100 new mentoring programs; established
a state-wide mentor recruitment campaign and 1.877.CT.MENTOR referral line; initiated
the Mentor Training Institute and Mentoring Resource Center; established quality
standards and formed four Regional Mentoring Networks.
In 2000, CMP has supported and recognized businesses that make a commitment to
youth mentoring in the state. Through its annual Mentoring Corporate Honor Roll
and event each January, over 90 businesses in the state are honored each year.
Whether you are an established mentoring program or an organization considering
