Running a responsible adult-youth mentoring
program requires knowledge, skills, planning and resources. If you are
starting a mentoring program or want to enhance your existing program to
ensure your program possesses all of the necessary elements to meet your
goals and objectives, this is the opportunity to jump-start your program
with new and interesting ideas! This two-day training provides school,
community, and faith-based teams with tools to implement a responsible
mentoring program based on the MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership’s
Elements of Effective Practice. We recommend that teams comprise at least
two members who will be coordinating the program.
Participants
will:
- Learn the nuts and bolts
of running an effective and responsible mentoring program;
- Identify a mentoring
program model most suitable for their organization;
- Develop strategies for
screening, recruiting, training, matching and monitoring the youth
and mentor relationship;
- Incorporate the
MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership’s Elements of Effective
Practice in an interactive learning environment; and
- Receive resource
materials for mentor program development and volunteer management.
Course Prerequisite: Our staff would like to meet
with you prior to training (at your site or over the phone) to discuss
your specific needs and expectations. Please call Cheryl Yetke at (860)
