Youth
mentoring continues to grow in popularity as the federal government funds
new mentoring initiatives and as people become more familiar with the
positive outcomes of mentoring. From programs looking to create a safety
net for at-risk youth, to schools seeking to strengthen children’s academic
performance, to companies looking to interest young people in specific
career tracks, mentoring is seen as a low-cost, high impact solution. As with
any emerging field of work, it is important to stop periodically and ask
“What do we know and what do we still need to learn?” This forum will
update the learning’s from the first two Forums regarding mentoring
research results, describe key principles of mentoring program
effectiveness, discuss national research priorities and talk about
implications for funders and policy makers. Who Should Attend? Funders,
legislators, representatives from businesses, schools and faith-based
organizations.
